The presentation of the complete harpsichord Sonatas of Giovanni Benedetto Platti (Padua 1697 – Würzburg 1763) continues with this recording. within this CD we find Sonatas VI to IX out of the total 18. Without going into the musicological analysis of the works, which are well introduced in the libretto by Ravizza himself, the critical judgment, which then remained a reference, of the greatest Italian scholar of Platti, Fausto Torrefranca, remains valid for all of them:
“[Platti] is a true artist, this is evident, but he is also a great artist, and he must take his place in history among the greatest authors of instrumental music. […] As far as harpsichord music is concerned […] his style stands out from that of his contemporaries. To get a glaring idea of this, one has only to pick out and read, one after another, those pieces in which he succeeds in summing up, in the most compact and brilliant manner, his true personality; and he wins a place in the world of the irrefutable, the highest sphere of art.”
