DA TIZIANO A RUBENS. CAPOLAVORI DA ANVERSA E DA ALTRE COLLEZIONI FIAMMINGHE at Palazzo Ducale in Venice from 5th September 2019 to 1st March 2020
Concerto Classics presents an exclusive recording project Willaert e la Scuola Fiamminga a San Marco, with music especially conceived for the exhibition Da Tiziano a Rubens. Capolavori da Anversa e da altre collezioni fiamminghe at Palazzo Ducale in Venice from 5th September 2019 to 1st March 2020.
This project is carried out in collaboration with VISITFLANDERS, the Flanders Tourist Board. In this Belgian region the Master composer Adrian Willaert was born and the Flanders are the place where even today the tradition of polyphonic music lives, involves, thrills and excites. The legacy of Willaert and the Flemish is in fact honored by concerts and festivals organized every year throughout the territory.
In Venice Willaert was Maestro di Cappella in St Mark’s Basilica from 1527 until his death in 1562, and he founded the Venetian school of music from which famous composers like Giovanni Gabrieli and Claudio Monteverdi would come out. For this reason the magnificent rooms of Doge’s apartment, transformed into authentic “cabinet of wonders” for the exhibition, as well as masterpieces of Tiziano, Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck and Michiel Sweerts, will host a special section focused on Willaert and Flemish musicians who lived in Venice. These authors’ works are the precious content of the CD Willaert e la Scuola Fiamminga a San Marco which also contains some first world recordings.
Concerto Classics, in its new editorial path, aims to become the protagonist of a wide and eclectic cultural project, based on the dialogue between music and art in the Italian and international tradition. That’s the reason for the collaboration with some important museums, publishers and promoters for the creation of official CDs linked to the exhibitions.
Among the projects already successfully archived, there is the matching of the CD with three of the most important exhibitions at Palazzo Reale in Milan in 2019: Carlo Carrà, Picasso Metamorfosi e Antonello da Messina; at the last two exhibitions of the San Domenico Museums of Forlì: L’Ottocento: l’arte dell’Italia da Hayez a Segantini in February 2019 e L’Eterno e il Tempo fra Michelangelo e Caravaggio, set up in February 2018; finally, a record edition for the Genoese exhibition: La Sacra Famiglia di Van Dyck e gli altri dipinti nordici di Banca Carige, in 2018.
The mission of Concerto Classics and his prestigious partners such as VISITFLANDERS is to spread “art music” in the places where its potential public is most often gathered, not only through simple records but also by bringing their artists to art places, to ensure that the synergy between art and music is directly expressed in live performances, in contact with the most fascinating masterpieces.
Concerto Classics will “sonorizes” with the music of the CD Willaert e la Scuola Fiamminga a San Marco the museum itinerary and the thematic areas of the exhibition, so as to offer the public an all-around sensory experience.
