Live at the Teatro San Carlo: Two exceptional recordings, which took place at different times on the stage of Europe’s oldest opera house, are presented for the first time on this CD.

The program opens with the prestigious baton of Sir Jeffrey Tate conducting Kurt Weill’s Violin Concerto and the inspired violin
of Gabriele Pieranunzi as soloist; the second and more recent one sees another great protagonist of music, Gabriele’s brother Enrico, try his hand, together with Alessandro Carbonare on clarinet, at a decidedly classical repertoire.

The notes and the interview with the two Pieranunzi players, both edited by the Mattino’s music critic Stefano Valanzuolo, help us discover the meaning, indeed the senses, of this production on the border of genres (classical, popular, jazz) and roles.
