Officially the "Martesana" Quartet was established in 1988.
In 1993 they played for the European Days of Clarinet at the Congress Palace in Strasbourg with great success as the only representatives from Italy and for the concerts organized by the "Musikmesse" in Frankfurt.
Quartetto Martesana has performed at several international music festivals, including the International Clarinet Society ("I.C.A."), the "Clarinet Fest" in Texas, the "European Clarinet Conference" in Budapest, the "Beijng International Clarinet Festival" in Peking, the "ClarinetFest" in Ostend (Belgium).
They have given recitals in the most important Italian theatres and won many first prizes and awards in many national and international competitions: and numerous are their recordings for the most important European Radios.
The Quartet makes a conscious point of searching new sounds and moods by playing with the chances given from the instruments (clarinets, basset horns and saxophones) and the possible combinations (trios and quartets).
