Having earned his diploma in piano under the guidance of Carlo Pestalozza, Fabrizio Maria Carminati studied composition in Milan with Davide Anzaghi and Vittorio Fellegara. Subsequently he earned his diploma with highest marks in orchestra direction and he took his first position as musical assistant in the office of the Artistic Director in 1992 at the Teatro Reggio in Turin and remained there until 1999.
He has worked as assistant to numerous Orchestra Directors among them Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Daniel Oren, Bruno Campanella. Carminati's recent engagements have included La Boheme in Modena, Piacenza and Ferrara, Madame Butterfly at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, La Traviata at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, Andrea Chenier at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo.
On the suggestion of Curator Fabio Orazi, Carminati was named the Artistic Director of Fondazione Arena in Verona by the board of directors of the Fondazione Scaligera. Since 2000, Maestro Carminati has been the head of the office of Artistic Direction of the Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo.
