He obtained his diploma in violin with distinction under the guidance of Salvatore Cicero. Then he went on taking advanced studying in baroque violin with Enrico Gatti's support.
He also studied composition together with Eliodoro Sollima and Niccolò Castiglioni and obtained his diploma as conductor under the guidance of Giampiero Taverna, as well as the one for conductor at lyric theatres with Umberto Cattini.
As instrumentalist, Maurizio Schiavo is mostly performing chamber music by playing his violin, viola and viol d'amour.
He has been giving concerts both as conductor, as well as instrumentalist together with the Demetrio Ensemble established by himself and playing original instruments.
He has been recording numerous CDs with various classical labels such as Tactus,
Bongiovanni, Nuova Era as well as Concerto.
