After in-depth studies on the violin, Monica Carletti – mezzosoprano, obtained a diploma in singing with full marks in Santa Cecilia Conservatorium, Rome, under the direction of M° Rebecca Berg. She attended various masterclasses with Shirley Verret, Paolo Montarsolo, Leo Nucci and Claudio Desderi; in 1992 she also attended courses within the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro as a permanent member. She sang under the direction of Maestros like Daniel Oren, Ferdinand Leitner, Daniel Oren, Ferdinand Leitner, Alberto Zedda, Donato Renzetti, Maurizio Arena, Bruno Bartoletti, Manuel Galduf, Sandro Sanna, including several premières in Italy and abroad: Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Terme di Caracalla, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Rossini Opera Festival, Opera di Nizza, Staatsoper di Vienna, Festival Pucciniano di Torre del Lago and Teatro Opera Giocosa di Savona. Her intensive concert activities include interpretations of chamber music by Italian, German, French and Polish composers. She has recorded for the Vatican Radio and many important record labels such as Ricordi, Bixio and Kicco Classic. She contributed to different radio programmes broadcast by RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana such as Mattinotre, Radiotre Suite and La Barcaccia. Her opera repertoire as a versatile mezzosoprano includes works by Mozart, Rossini, Gluck, Cimarosa, Donizetti, Leo, Pergolesi, Mancini, Arcà, Purcell, Puccini, Mascagni and Weill. As for chamber music, she performs both Italian and foreign repertoire from Baroque to contemporary times and she also performs sacred music. She teaches singing in Santa Cecilia Conservatorium, Rome.
