Maurizio Schiavo

Maurizio Schiavo obtained his diploma in violin with distinction under the guidance of Salvatore Cicero. He then went on to take advanced study of baroque violin with the support of Enrico Gatti. He also studied composition together with Eliodoro Sollima and Niccolò Castiglioni and obtained his conducting diploma under the guidance of Giampiero Taverna, as well as the diplome for conducting at lyric theatres with Umberto Cattini.
As an instrumentalist, Maurizio Schiavo mostly performs chamber music playing violin, viola and viol d’amour.
He has given concerts both as conductor and instrumentalist together with the Demetrio Ensemble, which he established himself, who play on original instruments.
He has been recording numerous CDs with various classical labels such as Tactus, Bongiovanni and Nuova Era as well as Concerto Classics.
