Born in Cernusco sul Naviglio (MI), Gianluca Buratto started playing saxophone as a young boy. When he was 17 years old he was enrolled in the M. Hayward class in Milan’s Conservatory. He has participated in masterclasses with S. Mingardo, E. Palacio, G. Aragall and D. Boldwin. In 2006, he won first prize juniores in the Ferruccio Tagliavini competition; in the same year he premiered in the Musica e Poesia in San Maurizio (Milan), and appeared in Bregenz singing in Verdi‘s Requiem and Cornelius’ Stabat Mater. He has performed with C. Coin and V. Ghielmi, recording a DVD with the latter group called Suonar Parlante. In 2009 he performed the role of the Priest in the opera Il carro e i canti by Alessandro Solbiati, produced by the Verdi opera theater in Trieste.
