The Duo Sollini-Barbatano represents the artistic collaboration between Marco Sollini, a highly skilled and well experienced pianist with a rich international career, both as a soloist and Chamber Music Artist together with the well known musician Bruno Canino, Antonio Ballista, Alain Meunier, Elena Zaniboni, the Scala Quartet, The Cremona Quartet and many others and Salvatore Barbatano, a young artist gifted with extraordinary prerogatives and a deep musical sensitivity, which have been developed by Sollini as his teacher in the last years. The Duo Sollini-Barbatano looks at all aspects of the repertoire for 4 handed piano and masterpieces for two pianos. They has performed both in Italy and abroad for important associations and festivals, among them the Schouwburg Festival of Jakarta, the International Music Festival of Santorini (Grecia), the Association Amici della Filarmonica of Oslo, the Kursaal of Bad Wildbad (Germany) and the Politeama Garibaldi Theatre of Palermo where they gave a concert for the Sicilian Association Amici della Musica – Music’s Friends. The Duo has recorded for Radio Vaticana (Vatican Radio) with pieces by Cilea, Leoncavallo and Mascagni, whose Symphony in F major was performed. Sollini dealt with the publication itself for Editors Boccaccini & Spada and it became widespread throughout the international circuit via Euroradio. Other recordings of the Duo have been broadcasted by Rai Radiotre and in their Repertoire you can also find the Concerto for two pianos and orchestra K. 365 of W. A. Mozart, the whole edition of the Concerts of Johann Sebastian Bach for two pianos and orchestra, which were recorded for the prestigious Magazine Amadeus and performed with the Orchestra da Camera delle Marche – the Chamber Orchestra of the Marches with the direction from M° Francesco D’Avalos and besides the Concert for 3 pianos and orchestra K. 242 “Lodron-Konzert” of W. A. Mozart, which has been performed together with the Pianist Gloria D’Atri with the orchestra of I Solisti Veneti with direction from Claudio Scimone who said: “Salvatore Barbatano, a really mozartian Pianist indeed with a light and fashionable touch… Marco Sollini, a great poet of the keyboard…”. The Duo Sollini-Barbatano has also broadcasted Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the animals and Patrizio Marrone’s neapolitan Carnival, which was performed with the Soloists of the Music Chamber of the Campania Region and Luigi Piovano as Concertmaster to the Premiere in the august 2009 and dedicatees of the Work. In 2011 they performed the world premiere of the “Le Mille e una notte” – “the One thousand nights” of Patrizio Marrone together with Ugo Pagliai as Paola Gassman as performing voices. The two artists’ experience is also based on the organisation of the Chamber Music Festival “Armonie della sera” for which Sollini is the Creator and Artistic Director and Barbatano the Artist Coordinator. Recently the argentine Master Sergio Calligaris has composed and dedicated to the Duo his composition “Allegro brutale con Pavana” op. 55 (2011, Carisch Edition).
