The choir, known as the “Coro Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze”, has been active since 1996 and has been directed by Ennio Clari since 2003 alongside their chief collaborator Francesco Romano. The choir is 75 strong and the breadth of their repertoire grows year on year, including modern, contemporary, sacred and secular music as well as opera, often performed in the original language with either a cappella, instrumental or symphonic accompaniment. Among the most important compositions performed by the choir are: Te Deum by Charpentier, Credo and Gloria by Vivaldi, Krönungsmesse and the Requiem by Mozart, Handel’s Messiah, Verdi’s Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Fauré’s Requiem and Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances. In recent years they have also developed collaborations with leading institutions such as: The Cameristi del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Orchestra of the Cherubini Conservatory, the Rome Sinfonica, the Fiorentina Chamber Orchestra, the Florence Symphonietta, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Florence, the City of Grosseto Symphony Orchestra, the AGIMUS of Arezzo, the “F. Busoni” Center of Empoli, the “Summer Queen” of Montecatini and the “Tuscia Opera Festival” of Viterbo.
