Alessio now lives in Basel, Switzerland, where he’s furthering his post-graduate studies in chamber music and performance at the Hochschule, and works as a freelance cellist. His busy schedule doesn’t inhibit him to get back as often as he can to the warmth and stunning light of his native Sicily, where he also gives his musical contribution to innovating the traditional Puppet Theater as a member of the Giacomo Cuticchio Ensemble. This sicilian project debuted at the Auditorium Parco della Musica (Rome, Italy) in December 2013, after the recent publication of the Ensemble’s first album “Quaderno di Danze e Battaglie dell’Opera dei Pupi” (Sonzogno/Egea).

In Sicily Alessio also produced his debut solo album “Prelude” with the genre-defying factory Almendra Music; the tracklist includes solo cello works by J. S. Bach, M. Weinberg, T. Demenga (world premiére recording) and S. Tsintsadze.

Alessio plays a Tobias Graeter cello made in Heidelberg (2010), copy of the Montagnana “Sleeping Beauty”.
