Davide Cabassi plays Cherubini – Beethoven

Great attention must be drawn to the Capriccio, ou etude pour le fortepiano, written by Luigi Cherubini, the great Italian-French composer born in Florence.
In 1786 he settled permanently in Paris where he later received the highest and most prestigious honours of France: he was made Commandeur de la Légion d’honneur – the first musician to receive such a title.
Il Capriccio, written in 1789, is a true arduous music folly on the piano; a masterpiece which is quite rarely performed. It is accompanied by the famous Sonatas op. 27 no. 1 & 2 by Beethoven, who regarded Cherubini as the greatest of his contemporaries.

An absolutely outstanding CD which sees our artist Davide Cabassi performing at the piano with great intensity.
