Daniele Proni


Daniele Proni’s musical career has coupled him with singers like José Carreras, Raina Kabaiwanska, Gianni Raimondi, Simone Alberghini, Patrizia Pace, Sara Mingardo, Anna Bonitatibus, Elena Cecchi Fedi and Anna Caterina Antonacci, soloists like Pavel Berman, Emanuele Segre, Massimo Mercelli, Mauro Valli, Domenico Nordio, Stefano Montanari and Giampaolo Bandini, and actors like Arnoldo Foà, Ugo Pagliai, Paola Gasmann, Lucia Poli and Sandro Lombardi.

He has performed as guest soloist with the Arad Philharmonic, the Camerata de France and the Philharmonische Camerata Berlin, and at prestigious venues such as the Berlin Konzerthaus, Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome, Grand Theatre de Bordeaux, Ghent Bijloke Muziekcentrum, Grand Theatre de La Monnaie, Auditorium Nacional de Madrid and London Wigmore Hall.

With the Ensemble Respighi he recorded many CDs for Tactus featuring music by Vivaldi, Bononcini, Haim, Bellinzani, Tartini and Guarnieri; many of them broadcast by the BBC, Rai Radio 3, Vatican Radio, Radio Televisione Svizzera Italiana, Denmark DR, Estonia ERR, Norway NRK, Romania ROR and Rai 3, Rai 5 and Sky Classica.

In 2006 he began working with Federico Ferri on the critical edition of the instrumental works and the four “intermezzos” by Padre Martini for Suvini-Zerboni. With the Accademia degli Astrusi he also performed six unpublished concertos for harpsichord by Martini, which were recorded for the first time ever. In October 2011 he worked on a co-production with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna for the staging of Martini’s unpublished “Don Chisciotte” and “Il Maestro di Musica”, with scenes from original sketches by Dario Fo, now on DVD of SONY-Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.

For SONY has recorded the double CD “Semiramide”, with Anna Bonitatibus, always with the Accademia degli Astrusi, winner of the International Opera Awards 2015.

He regularly directs choral music workshops and has been called on as a juror in national and international competitions. His work involves editing critical musical editions and conference proceedings for Pizzicato Verlag, Armelin Editore, Corpus Musicum Franciscanum and Edizioni Suvini-Zerboni.

He has held seminars and concerts with the Choir of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Euridice Choral Society and has been director of the Cappella Musicale dei Servi in Bologna and the Gaudeamus Chorus. In 2001 he created, and was artistic director to, the International Competition for Choral Conductors “Mariele Ventre”.

He is currently creating the “Coro Giovanile Città di Bologna”, experimental project dedicated to training young singers.

He began his musical studies with his father Walter Proni, later obtaining his degree in piano, and then harpsichord with Annaberta Conti. Acquiring further diplomas in choral music, conducting and composition, he studied with Tito Gotti, Pier Paolo Scattolin and Francesco Carluccio.He studied orchestral conducting with Paolo Arrivabeni and Luciano Acocella and graduated at D.A.M.S., University of Bologna.

He has taught at the Conservatoires of Venice, Potenza and Bari, and now teaches at the “S. Giacomantonio” Conservatoire, Cosenza.

In 2016, on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the founding of the Regia Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, he will be artistic and musical director of the baroque music courses.
